With the advent of new and advance technology, Artificial Intelligence has permeated into our lives and it’s evolving every day. Right from the commands we give to virtual assistants like SIRI & Alexa to the actual search which is done by search engines, everything is Artificial Intelligence. Artificial Intelligence has already entered the fields of computer science, psychology, mathematics, linguistics, philosophy and many others. The impact of AI is apparent from the fact that even the undergraduate students in college are undergoing Artificial Intelligence Training, right from college. It’s safe to say that AI is being appended to everything. And it’s growing, as I write this blog & as you will be reading it on the screens of your smartphones/ laptops.

AI has the ability to vanquish human brain at any task, but in the past few years AI has grown manifold & is in its advance stage.

A List of few Artificial Intelligence (AI) Projects

 

  1. P.A.N

It is a freeware which is a text analyzer. This system lets a user analyze the text from various sources like from a textbook, a work of fiction, a prose from a poem & delivers an output of various perspectives through which a user can see the text. P.A.N works by breaking a sentence into its syntactic components & then analyzing the structure of the sentence. It considers various emotions, ideas & stress markets of the words.

  1. Website Evaluation using Opinion Mining

The system termed as Website Evaluation System, rates a website keeping into account the keywords which describe the emotions and experience of users, from the comments section. It evaluates a website on the basis of users’ experience. For example, the genuineness of a delivered product or service, the support which a user receives after the delivery of product & if the services were delivered on time.

  1. Holmes

Heuristics & Ontology based Learning Machines & Experimental Systems also called Holmes is a commuting cognitive system. This system was developed by Wipro in the year 2016. Various functions of Holmes are visual computing application, automate service request, predictive systems, develop digital virtual agent etc. This AI system has given a productivity of above 12,000 people. This system has the ability to replace human labour.

  1. Price Negotiator e Commerce Chatbot System

This system is in its nascent stage but it has the ability to provide great results for

e Commerce industry. This chatbot system offers flexible prices to a certain product. That means that a prospective customer can haggle right on the website with the system. The system works on various theories of AI like decision theory, game theory & negotiation analysis. It works on the basis of past experience. But the system is yet to overcome the challenges like communication & ontology issue.

  1. Apache Lucene & Apache Joshua

Apache Lucene is a free & open source library which is supported by Apache Software Foundation. It performs search based on edit distance & is suitable for apps that require text indexing as well as searching capability.

Apache Joshua is a Hadoop- based grammar extractor. Like Apache Lucene, Joshua is also written on Java. It has wide range of tools & scripts to train as well as evaluate new models from parallel texts.

6. Wolfram Alpha

Wolfram Alpha computes the answer of a user’s query from its external curated data. That’s how it’s different from a traditional search engine. It replies to a query after computing the answer from a structured data. This online service is written on Wolfram programming language & runs on thousands of CPUs.

  1. LIDA – Cognitive Architecture

LIDA - Lerarning Intelliegent Distribution Agent

LIDA an acronym for Learning Intelligent Distribution Agent is based on cognitive architecture. It recruits many modules that are developed by computational techniques of new artificial intelligence. That incorporates different versions of sparse distributed memory, Copycat architecture, subsumption architecture, schema mechanism & behavior net. It is an integrated artificial cognitive system. From advanced reasoning to simple perception, LIDA models a wide range of cognition in biological platforms.

  1. Apache Open NLP

This is a machine learning toolkit & processes natural language text. The aim of this toolkit is to present a range of pre-designed models in different languages. It reinforces common NLP tasks such as parsing, chunking, sentence segmentation, named entity extraction, tokenization etc.

  1. NuPic

NuPic - Numenta Platform for Intelligent Computing, an open source implementation of cortical learning algorithm

NuPic also known as Numenta Platform for Intelligent Computing is an open source implementation of cortical learning algorithm of Numenta. It implements Hierarchical Temporal Memory learning algorithms. It can be used in many problems, like for the detection of anomalies, for prediction of streaming information resources. NuPic has a detailed computational theory of the neocortex.

  1. Viv

Viv is an artificial intelligence software developed by the makers of Siri. By 2016, the Viv team had raised $30 million. After that it was acquired by Samsung Electronics which has announced that Viv will be used in Bixby 2.0. Viv allows developers to distribute their products through conversational, intelligent interface. Viv is open & can be integrated with external plugin created to work with the assistant

  1. Mycroft

Mycroft - An open source knowledge navigator & intelligent personal assistant

This project which started in 2015 has already raised $2 million. It can be termed as an open source knowledge navigator & intelligent personal assistant. One can use on a desktop, in automobiles, electronic home appliances & Raspberry Pi. Mycroft can be used from small projects in science & technology to huge software applications. Its natural language into machine readable format with the help of Adapt, an intent parser.

  1. AIBO

AIBO - An AI robot from Sony used for reaserch & domestic purpose

AIBO is a product of Sony Computer Science Laboratory. It is a series of robotic pets which can be used for domestic or entertainment purpose. Many universities also use AIBO for research in robotics & human-robot interaction. This robot is being used as a platform for AI education & research. It is being claimed that the new version of AIBO is capable of forming emotional bonds with people & returning it with affection. It is capable of moving its body along 22 axes. In the year 2017, Sony has introduced new version of AIBO.

  1. AlphaGo

AlphaGo - A product of Google DeepMind which is the first computer program to defeat a human player

A product of Google DeepMind, this is a computer program which plays Chinese boardgame Go. AlphaGo uses machine learning & Monte Carlo tree search algorithm. This program learns extensively by training from both human & computer. In 2015 AlphaGo became the first computer program to defeat a professional player on a 19*19 board. In 2017, DeepMind has introduced AlphaGo Zero which is more intelligent & efficient than the previous version.

  1. Google Brain

Google Brain has one objective – to improve human lives by making machines better. By 2016, the Google Brain Team had successfully developed an AI-devised encryption system. It is a deep learning research project which combines system engineering with open ended machine learning research and Google computing resources. In 2017, the Google Brain team announced a neural network image enhancement system that could transform 8*8 image to 32*32.

  1. Blue Brain Project

Blue Brain Project - It is a Swiss national brain initiative

Blue Brain project is a Swiss national brain initiative. Its objective is to develop a detailed digital reconstruction & simulation of the brain through reverse engineering mammalian brain. Blue Brain gets dense maps of the brain by exploiting interdependencies in the experimental data. It does so without analyzing each detail of multiple level. The simulation which was achieved through supercomputer offers many new tools to study the complex interaction within different level of brain & examine cross level links leading from genes to cognition.
